We recognize that many people have worked extremely hard and have made great sacrifices to cover the costs of their surgeries. We are working to assist as many people as possible, but, unfortunately, we will not be able to meet everyone’s needs. Please note that we are an organization run by transgender people and our allies who understand the importance of accessing medically necessary transition-related care. If you and your doctor decide that surgery is part of your transition and you need financial support either because you do not have insurance or because your insurance excludes these medically necessary procedures, please submit your application for consideration for a Jim Collins Foundation grant. Clinically appropriate treatments must be determined on an individualized basis with one’s physician. Not every transgender person has a medical needfor identical procedures. “The Jim Collins Foundation urges health insurance carriers and healthcare providers in the US to eliminate transgender exclusions and to provide coverage for transgender patients and the medically necessary prescribed sex reassignment services necessary for treatment and well-being, and to ensure that their ongoing health care is readily accessible.” The 2024 grant cycle will open on Jand will close on August 15, 2023.
